AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has moved to clarify the situation regarding the club's pursuit of Kaka.
The Brazilian looks destined for the exit door at Real Madrid and the Rossoneri have been heavily linked with a swoop for their former star.
However, Galliani has revealed that a deal is stalling as the La Liga giants want to offload Kaka on a permanent basis.
"The situation with regards to Kaka is clear," said Galliani. "Real Madrid want to sell him on a permanent basis, we want to take him on loan.
"If Real Madrid change their minds then I'll fly straight to Spain, otherwise we can't do anything about it.
"As for the defence, we have five centre-backs and four full-backs, so we are covered."
Kaka has made 66 appearances for Real Madrid since his 2009 transfer.
