Denis Cheryshev will reportedly remain with Real Madrid this season following talks with head coach Rafael Benitez.
The 24-year-old joined Los Blancos back in 2002, but has not yet made a single first-team appearance for the club, having been out on loan with Sevilla and Villarreal.
It is understood that Cheryshev wanted assurances over his role in Benitez's squad this season before deciding his future and according to AS, the meeting ended with all parties agreeing that the attacker should remain at the Bernabeu.
Villarreal, who had the Russian international on loan last season, were believed to be keen on securing another deal for the season ahead.
Cheryshev has been heavily involved in Real Madrid's pre-season preparations.
