Real Madrid reportedly tell James Rodriguez that he will remain at the Bernabeu for the upcoming campaign, despite interest from elsewhere.

James Rodriguez has reportedly been informed by Real Madrid that he will not be leaving the club this summer.

Having spent the last two years on loan at Bayern Munich, Rodriguez was expected to be sold during the transfer window, potentially to either Atletico Madrid or Napoli.

However, according to AS, president Florentino Perez has told the Colombia international that he will be spending the season at the Bernabeu.

The report acknowledges that the serious injury to Marco Asensio has influenced the Real chief's thinking, while the 7-3 friendly defeat to Atletico last week has also contributed to the decision.

Head coach Zinedine Zidane had seemingly been happy to sell the playmaker, partly in order to bring in funds for a high-profile signing in the coming weeks.

The development marks the second change of heart from Perez, who allegedly blocked Gareth Bale's proposed transfer to China over the weekend.
