Cristiano Ronaldo wants new Real Madrid deal

Cristiano Ronaldo reveals that he will begin contract renewal talks with Real Madrid once he has returned to the Spanish capital.

Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed that he will soon begin contract renewal talks with Real Madrid.

The 31-year-old, who helped Portugal win Euro 2016, has a contract at the Bernabeu until the summer of 2018.

It had been claimed that Manchester United would attempt to re-sign the forward this summer, but Jose Mourinho's arrival at Old Trafford ended the speculation, while talk of a move to Paris Saint-Germain also went cold.

Ronaldo is currently recovering from the knee problem that he picked up in the final of the European Championships, but he has confirmed that renewal talks will begin once he has returned to the Spanish capital.

"I spoke to the president (Florentino Perez) on the phone and when I get back to Madrid, we'll talk [over a new deal]. Obviously it's something I want," AS quotes Ronaldo as saying.

Ronaldo joined Real Madrid from Manchester United in 2009 and has scored 364 goals in 348 appearances for the Spanish giants, winning two Champions League titles in the process.
