Real Sociedad deny Asier Illarramendi bid

Real Sociedad president Jokin Aperribay denies that his club have approached Real Madrid over a move for Spanish midfielder Asier Illarramendi.

Real Sociedad president Jokin Aperribay has denied that the Basque outfit have made a move for their former midfielder Asier Illarramendi.

Illarramendi, 25, left Sociedad for Real Madrid in the summer of 2013, but has struggled to make his mark at the Bernabeu.

Aperribay has not completely ruled out a move for the Spaniard, but has said that as it stands, no contact has been made with Los Blancos.

"We haven't had contact with Madrid, nor with the player or his representatives. So far we haven't made any approach in this direction," Aperribay told reporters.

Illarramendi, who came through the youth system at Sociedad, is already closing on 100 appearances for Real Madrid.
