Real Madrid have reportedly turned their attention to signing Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho.
The 23-year-old has been linked with the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal in recent months.
However, should Asier Illarramendi leave the Bernabeu this summer, Madrid have identified the Portugal international as the ideal replacement to fill the defensive midfield void, according to Cadena Cope.
Yesterday, Sporting head coach Jorge Jesus insisted that the club had no interest in selling Carvalho, who made 41 appearances in all competitions last season.
