Rennes see off Lille

Rennes beat Lille 2-0 in today's Ligue 1 clash at the Stade de la Route-de-Lorient.

Rennes have comfortably seen off Lille by a score of 2-0 in today's Ligue 1 clash at the Stade de la Route-de-Lorient.

The hosts were dominant early on and Paul-Georges Ntep was unlucky to head wide from Mouhamadou Habibou's cross in the fourth minute.

Lille then had a good spell as Simon Kjaer's header was saved in the 10th minute, before Michael Frey and Sebastien Corchia threatened midway through the first half.

The game continued in lively fashion as both sides pushed forward and tallied efforts on goal, but the deadlock would be broken at the start of the second half when Rennes struck through Habibou's thumping header.

Just eight minutes later, the home side doubled their lead when a fast break allowed Ntep to set up Doucoure, who tucked the ball into the bottom corner past Lille goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama.

Chances would increasingly find themselves at a premium as the match went on, with Rennes able to take the sting out of the game and ultimately claim all three points against the lowest scorers in the division.
