Franco Baldini leaves his post as director general at Roma just over a year after joining the club.

Roma have parted company with director general Franco Baldini, the club's president James Pallotta has confirmed.

The 52-year-old, who was England's number two under Fabio Capello, only took the job on last year, but was thanked for his contribution to the club.

"We thank Franco Baldini for his service to AS Roma over the past two seasons," Sky Sports News quotes Pallotta as saying.

"He played an important role in the launch of our project. We wish him well in his future endeavours."

Baldini added: "I want to thank the owners of AS Roma for the opportunity that was given to me.

"I was very happy at Roma and wish the club, players and fans all the best."

Tottenham Hotspur coach Andre Villas-Boas is reportedly eager to see Baldini appointed in a similar role at White Hart Lane.
