Rotherham United have continued their preparations for the new Championship season by beating Conference Premier outfit Alfreton Town 2-0 at the Impact Arena this evening.
Matt Derbyshire had the first opening for the visitors when he met Ryan Hall's corner at the near post, before diverting the ball over the bar.
The striker came close again moments later from another Hall set piece, but his effort was saved by Jon Stewart.
Rotherham were creating the better of the chances and Kirk Broadfoot headed over from a corner before Derbyshire missed from range as the first half finished goalless.
The Millers did eventually make the breakthrough 11 minutes after the break, when Derbyshire fired home a loose ball past Stewart.
In the final minute Jerry Yates scored a second for the visitors when he slotted home from Mitch Rose's pass to wrap up the victory.
