Graham Alexander named Salford City boss

Salford City announce that Graham Alexander has been appointed as the new manager of the National League club.

Salford City have announced that they have appointed Graham Alexander as the club's new manager.

Last week, it was revealed that duo Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley had left their positions by mutual consent, resulting in the National League North champions needing to move quickly to find a replacement.

The North-West side have now revealed that Alexander has been brought in on a four-year contract, with the 46-year-old having departed League One outfit Scunthorpe United as recently as March.

Co-owner Gary Neville told the club's official website: "After what happened last week we had to react quickly. Sporting director Chris Casper led the process and when he made the club aware of the opportunity to secure someone of Graham's experience and credibility we moved decisively.

"We have acquired the highest quality of manager in Graham to continue the great work that has been done over the last four seasons. We have had stability at this club and we now look forward to a new chapter with Graham, who has accepted a four year deal at SCFC."

Alexander arrives at Moor Lane with Salford having earned promotion in three of the last four seasons.
