Benedikt Howedes demands improvement from Schalke 04

Benedikt Howedes urges Schalke 04 to quickly improve following their 1-0 win over Augsburg on Friday.

Benedikt Howedes has claimed that Schalke 04 have a lot of improving to do following their 1-0 victory over Augsburg on Friday night.

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar's strike helped a below-par Schalke side collect all three points in Gelsenkirchen, but Howedes believes that the players must do more to execute Roberto Di Matteo's plans.

"It wasn't pretty but all that counts is the three points," the defender told reporters. "Ultimately, we can be happy with that, dust ourselves off and look ahead.

"We didn't do much of what the manager has asked of us. Every individual has to take responsibility for that and keep working hard on their game."

Reports have suggested that Schalke could be without Julian Draxler for an extended spell after the playmaker was forced off on Friday evening.
