Gordon Strachan: 'Scotland going for win against Republic of Ireland'

Gordon Strachan says that Scotland want to win the Euro 2016 qualifying match against Republic of Ireland in June.

Gordon Strachan has said that Scotland will travel to Dublin looking to win the match in June.

Scotland currently lie in third in Group D of European Championship qualifying, two points ahead of the Republic of Ireland, and have the chance to qualify for their first tournament since 1998.

"Any wins are big wins in the group from now on in and you have to go for the wins," Strachan told The Scotsman.

"That's the way we will approach the game in Dublin, we'll be going there to win.

"A draw would not be a bad result for us but I have no idea how to set up a team to draw a game of football. I've not been with a manager yet who sets up his team for a draw. If it happens, then it happens, but our intention will be to win the match."

Strachan has managed Scotland since January 2013, winning 10 of his 18 matches in charge.
