Aiden McGeady: 'No regrets about choosing Republic of Ireland'

Everton's Aiden McGeady insists that he has no regrets about choosing the Republic of Ireland over Scotland.

Everton winger Aiden McGeady has insisted that he has no regrets about choosing to represent the Republic of Ireland at international level.

The former Celtic star is also eligible to play for Scotland, having been born in Paisley, but feels that he made the right decision allying with the Irish.

"I've played a lot of games for Ireland and I'm only 27 and think I can get a lot more," BBC Sport quotes him as saying.

"The main thing that makes me think I don't regret it is that I got to play at a major finals at the Euros, even if we did not cover ourselves in glory."

Scotland and Ireland have been drawn against each other in the qualifying stage of Euro 2016, and McGeady is anticipating a hostile reception from the Scottish support.

"You learn to deal with it. I am old enough now to deal with it. When I was younger, it got on my nerves," he said.

Scotland will take on Ireland on November 14.
