Sheffield United to appoint Nigel Adkins as manager?

Former Southampton boss Nigel Adkins will become the new manager of League One side Sheffield United, according to a report.

Sheffield United are reportedly close to appointing Nigel Adkins as their manager.

The Blades have been looking for a new boss since sacking Nigel Clough last week in the wake of their League One playoff failure.

Former Southampton boss Adkins has been out of work since leaving Championship side Reading in December.

It is thought that the 50-year-old met with representatives of the United board in London on Monday evening, with a view to taking charge at Bramall Lane, according to the Sheffield Star.

Adkins has previously won promotion from League One with Southampton and Scunthorpe United.
