Southampton confirm Jay Rodriguez out for seven or eight weeks

Southampton boss Ronald Koeman confirms that Jay Rodriguez is out for seven or eight weeks after undergoing surgery on Tuesday.

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman has confirmed that Jay Rodriguez will be on the sidelines for seven or eight weeks after undergoing surgery on his ankle.

The 26-year-old, who has had his fair share of injury troubles, has been out of action since mid-October, and now faces a further two months on the treatment table.

Rodriguez had only recently returned to action after spending over a year with a ruptured anterior cruciate knee ligament.

In this afternoon's press conference, Koeman confirmed that Rodriguez had an operation on Tuesday and will miss the next seven to eight weeks of action.

The Saints are currently eighth in the Premier League table.
