Southampton manager Ronald Koeman determined to reach League Cup final

Southampton boss Ronald Koeman says that winning the League Cup is an "important" target for his team.

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman has suggested that the League Cup is a priority for his team after they booked a place in the quarter-finals of the competition on Wednesday.

The Saints will take on Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool at St Mary's after they executed a 2-1 win over Aston Villa in the fourth round.

"You have to be a little bit lucky in the draw but it's one of our ambitions to reach the final and to give our amazing fans the opportunity to go to Wembley and to play for something," the Daily Echo quotes Koeman as saying.

"I think that's what every player, what every manager likes to do - to go to Wembley and fight for a trophy, even the Capital One. For us it's an important one."

The Saints earned a late 1-1 draw against Liverpool at Anfield in their Premier League meeting last weekend.
