Injuries and suspension may see Nathaniel Clyne start at left-back for Southampton against Tottenham Hotspur.

Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino has hinted that he may use Nathaniel Clyne as a left-back during next weekend's trip to Tottenham Hotspur.

Pochettino will be without the injured Luke Shaw for the trip, while Danny Fox has been handed a three-match suspension following the red card that he received against West Bromwich Albion last time out.

That has left the boss short in the left-back position, which could result in him calling up the right-footed Clyne to fill the void.

"It's always a problem when you have one player injured and another banned in the same position," the Daily Echo quotes Pochettino as saying.

"Clyne has played in that position before so perhaps we will stick him over there."

The Saints will go into the match against Spurs placed 13th in the Premier League table.
