Southampton to appoint ex-Blackburn Rovers chairman John Williams?

Southampton are reportedly considering appointing former Blackburn Rovers chairman John Williams as the club's new chief executive.

Former Blackburn Rovers chairman John Williams is reportedly in contention to become the new chief executive of Southampton.

The Saints are believed to have targeted Williams following the resignation of Nicola Cortese last week.

According to The Express, Williams is the only candidate to have met with owner Katharina Liebherr, who could announce the appointment this week.

Williams, who is currently in charge of the Professional Game Match Officials referees' group, is a lifelong Southampton fan.
