Southampton go top of the Championship with an emphatic victory over Birmingham City today.

Southampton moved to the top of the Championship with a 4-1 victory over Birmingham City earlier today.

Goals from Rickie Lambert, Guly Do Prado and Adam Lallana allowed the home side to take a three goal lead into the break.

Blues striker Chris Wood pulled one back shortly after the restart, but the three goal margin was restored in the 78th minute by winger Richard Chaplow.

Next Saturday the Saints travel to Burnley, while Birmingham play host to Barnsley.
