Tottenham Hotspur manager Nuno Espirito Santo has urged fans to be "patient" with new arrival Cristian Romero.
The Argentinian defender was handed his competitive debut for the Lilywhites in Thursday's Europa Conference League battle with Pacos de Ferreira, but he had an evening to forget in Portugal.
Romero could only watch Lucas Silva latch on to a throughball and score the game's only goal deep into first half injury time, but Nuno believes that the centre-back will soon come good at Tottenham.
Speaking to reporters in a press conference following the first-leg defeat, Santo said: "We need to be patient with all the players.
"When a player changes country we need to realise we need to be patient. However, I think with the quality Romero has, his adaptation will be quicker."
Tottenham now prepare to face Nuno's old club Wolverhampton Wanderers in Sunday's Premier League battle before the second leg of their playoff tie with Pacos next Thursday.
