Half-Time Report: Tottenham Hotspur trail Benfica at the break

Tottenham Hotspur trail at the break in the first leg of their last-16 Europa League clash with Benfica at White Hart Lane.

Tottenham Hotspur are trailing at the break in their Europa League last-16 clash with Benfica at White Hart Lane.

Spurs started the game well and dominated possession in the early stages, but they lacked any penetration in the final third as Sandro fired their only effort over the bar from 20 yards.

The visitors took the lead in the 29th minute when a pass from Ruben Amorim cut open the home side's defence as Rodrigo got in behind Kyle Naughton, and he slotted the ball past Hugo Lloris.

Tim Sherwood's side tried to press to get an equaliser before the break, but they were limited as their delivery, especially from set pieces, failed to challenge the Benfica defence.
