Hugo Lloris expects "tough" Benfica test

Hugo Lloris believes that Tottenham Hotspur will need to be at their best to get past Benfica and into the Europa League quarter-finals.

Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has insisted that his side's Europa League last-16 tie against Benfica will not be easy, as he knows from facing them in the past with Lyon.

Lloris said that Benfica are used to playing Champions League football and hopes that Spurs can get a lead on Thursday night to take into next week's trip to Portugal.

"Benfica [are] one of the best teams in Europe and used to playing in the Champions League," he told the club's official website. "I played against Benfica for Lyon in the Champions League. It was in the group stages, we won at home and lost in Benfica.

"They are always a tough team to play away and they are used to playing in Europe. Benfica and Porto are the best teams in Portugal and they have a big reputation in European competition."

Spurs edged past Ukrainian side Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk in the last round.
