Tottenham Hotspur claimed a 3-1 victory over Qarabag FK on the opening night of the Europa League group stage at White Hart Lane.

Mauricio Pochettino's side fell behind when Richard scored an early penalty, but Son Heung-min netted a brace on his home debut before Erik Lamela secured the points late on.

Goal

Hugo Lloris: A routine evening at the office for the Frenchman, who made a couple of stops after watching the early penalty fly past him. (6/10)

Defence

Kieran Trippier: It was a disappointing start to his debut as he gifted the visitors a penalty with a poor challenge in the box, but he recovered well and threatened with some fine crosses. (6/10)

Kevin Wimmer: A solid performance on his debut. Likely to be given plenty of chances in this competition and the centre-back looked comfortable as he won most battles. (6/10)

Toby Alderweireld: The calm head in a defence which looked vulnerable at times. Cleaned up loose balls well and made a number of crucial blocks. (7/10)

Danny Rose: Locked in a battle with Ben Davies for the left-back spot in the Premier League, but this performance will not do him many favours. Despite looking bright going forward, he invited pressure with too many poor touches and almost gifted Qarabag a couple of goals. (5/10)

Midfield

Tom Carroll: His manager appears to have faith in him, but he was caught in possession a couple of times early in the match. Improved as the match progressed to dictate the tempo in the second half. (6/10)

Eric Dier: Improving as a midfielder with every match. Provided a shield for the home defence by winning tackles on a regular basis and he picked out his creative players frequently. (7/10)

Andros Townsend: Started for the first time this season and looked a threat when he attacked his markers down the line, but his eagerness to cut inside often had a negative effect on the home side's attacks. (6/10)

Dele Alli: Superb display from the teenager, who has already proven that he is good enough to play at this level after his move from MK Dons. A constant threat with his trickery and movement off the ball. At the heart of most attacks. (8/10)

Erik Lamela: Disappointing for long spells as he struggled to make the right decision in the final third of the pitch and missed a couple of decent opportunities. Ended a disappointing night on a high by wrapping up the win with a clever finish. (6/10)

Attack

Son Heung-min: A brilliant home debut for the South Korean. He was his side's brightest player in a sluggish start and his movement off the ball made him difficult to stop. Showed his composure with two smart finishes to open his account for the club. (8/10)

Substitutes

Harry Kane: His wait for a first goal of the season continues, but he did make an impact off the bench by setting up Lamela's goal. (6/10)

Clinton N'Jie: Eager to impress as he made his debut off the bench, but his touch let him down in promising positions on a couple of occasions. (5/10)

Harry Winks: Made just his second senior appearance for the club and looked composed on the ball in the closing stages. (6/10)

QARABAG

Goal

Ibrahim Sehic: Kept his side in the match with excellent saves to deny Alli and Rose, but he was left helpless to prevent Son from equalising when the South Korean was left unmarked in the six-yard box. (7/10)

Defence

Maksim Medvedev: Caught out of position high up the pitch when Spurs countered on far too many occasions, and he always looked troubled when Alli drifted out wide. (5/10)

Rashad Sadygov: Arguably his side's best performer. Made a number of key interceptions when Spurs were dominating before the break and he was impressive in the air. (7/10)

Badavi Huseynov: Battled admirably throughout the night as he struggled to keep tabs on the lively Son, but he was dealt a blow late on when cramp resulted in him losing possession as Spurs wrapped up the win. (6/10)

Ansi Agolli: Threatened Spurs with his excellent runs on the left wing for much of the game and won a penalty by poking the ball through Trippier's legs early in the match. (7/10)

Midfield

Gara Garayev: Given the responsibility of providing protection for the visiting defence, but he never seemed to be sure where Alli was on the pitch. Struggled to cope when Spurs committed more men forward. (5/10)

Afran Ismayilov: His touch twice let him down when he looked set to test Lloris, but he was one of the few Qarabag players who showed a desire to go beyond the striker. (6/10)

Richard: Opened the scoring with a calm penalty under pressure. Struggled to get involved and forced to do most of his work helping out the defence. (6/10)

Dani Quintana: Qarabag may have walked away with a positive result had their creative midfielder enjoyed a better evening. The former Valencia playmaker struggled to get involved and his end product was disappointing. (4/10)

Javid Tagiev: Eager to cut in from the wing as much as possible but unable to make the impact he would have liked. Often on the fringes of the game when the visitors attacked. (5/10)

Attack

Reynaldo: A willing runner throughout the evening to give his side an outlet on the break, but he never really had the opportunity to cap a hard-working display with a goal. (6/10)

Substitutes

Samuel Armenteros: Unable to get much of a kick after being sent on to give Reynaldo a partner in attack midway through the second half. (5/10)

Michel: Caught in possession on a couple of occasions late on and picked up a booking for bringing down the impressive Ali. (4/10)

Alharbi El Jadeyaoui: Rarely involved in the closing stages, despite making good runs off the ball in a wide position. (4/10)
