Tottenham Hotspur team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Manchester City

Sports Mole rounds up all of Tottenham Hotspur's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Sunday's Premier League fixture with Manchester City.

Tottenham Hotspur get their 2021-22 Premier League campaign underway on Sunday with a home encounter against champions Manchester City.

At a time when speculation is rife regarding the future of Harry Kane, newly-appointed boss Nuno Espirito Santo will be relieved to start the season at his new club.

While City are having to deal with their own fitness concerns, Nuno has a number of decisions to make ahead of selecting his first XI.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up all of Spurs' latest injury and suspension news ahead of the showdown in North London.

Cristian Romero

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Knee injury/lack of fitness
Possible return date: Unknown

The signing of Romero is regarded as key as Spurs attempt to return to the Champions League. However, the club's most notable addition of the summer will not feature in this contest as he continues to recover from a knee problem.

Harry Kane

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Lack of fitness
Possible return date: August 15 (vs. Man City)

Having allegedly returned to training later than scheduled and with City known to be interested in his signature, it would come as a surprise if Kane features in the Spurs XI at the weekend. However, with Nuno insisting that the club's talisman is available for selection, he could come off the substitutes' bench.

Ryan Sessegnon

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: Unknown

Sessegnon featured during the early stages of pre-season, seemingly putting himself in contention for the opening game. However, the left-sided player has sustained a hamstring injury, making him unavailable for the foreseeable future.

SPURS' SUSPENSION LIST

Spurs have no suspension issues ahead of this fixture.
