Brad Friedel: Erik Lamela, Nacer Chadli "prospering" under Mauricio Pochettino

Talking to Sports Mole, Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Brad Friedel hails the recent form of Erik Lamela and Nacer Chadli.

Brad Friedel believes that his teammates Erik Lamela and Nacer Chadli have benefited from the new methods that manager Mauricio Pochettino has installed at Tottenham Hotspur.

Both attack-minded players arrived at White Hart Lane in the summer of 2013, but neither was able to enjoy a consistent run in the starting lineup.

However, the appointment of Pochettino in May has coincided with some positive form from the duo, who have scored six goals and assisted a further five between them in all competitions.

Reflecting on the upturn in fortunes for the pairing, Friedel has told Sports Mole that they are "prospering" under Pochettino's management.

"Whenever players play well, managers need to take some credit. But you have to look at when players first come to the Premier League - it takes a bit more time to adapt to it compared to other leagues perhaps. Lamela and Chadli now have a year of the Premier League under their belts," said the goalkeeper.

"Lamela in particular had such a terrible time with injuries last year. He was never able to get any sort of run of games, which meant that he couldn't reach some decent fitness levels. He wasn't able to adapt as quickly as everyone, including himself, would have liked. This time he was able to have a full pre-season and he looks a lot better for it.

"It's down to the manager to install fitness, tactical and technical levels, which brings with it confidence. You are seeing two players that are prospering from that."

Lamela and Chadli are both expected to feature for Spurs against Newcastle United at the weekend.
