Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Micky Hazard believes the club should do everything in its power to make Pep Guardiola its new manager.

Spurs are seeking a successor to Harry Redknapp, who was dismissed by chairman Daniel Levy on Wednesday night (June 13).

Hazard, who retired in 1995, believes that Guardiola has the ability to turn the Premier League outfit into "the next Barcelona".

He told talkSPORT: "If we had the choice of everyone that's out there, there's only one name that stands out and that's Guardiola. He would fit in perfectly with our style of play.

"People might say that that is impossible but sometimes dreams come true. It's not about the money with him, he's probably wealthy enough now to live his life twice over without any problems.

"With Guardiola it's about the project. We could give him 10 years to turn Spurs into the next Barcelona, a team that dominates Europe. Tottenham should push the boat out to get him."

Guardiola parted company with Barcelona at the end of last season, and is understood to have turned down the opportunity to become the next Chelsea manager.

Everton's David Moyes has been named as the bookmakers' favourite to succeed Redknapp.
