Harry Kane "proud" to sign new Tottenham Hotspur contract

Forward Harry Kane says that penning a new six-year contract with Tottenham Hotspur is "a proud day".

Harry Kane has said that he is "really excited" and "proud" to have signed a new long-term deal with Tottenham Hotspur.

Kane has established himself as one of the top forwards in world football, with 135 goals being scored in all competitions since the start of the 2014-15 campaign.

Real Madrid had been heavily linked with an approach for Kane, but the England captain has committed his future to the North London outfit until 2024.

The 24-year-old told the club's official website: "I'm really excited, it's a proud day. Obviously it's been a great few seasons and I'm looking forward to the future.

"I'm looking forward to the new stadium first and foremost and just to keep progressing as a club. It's been fantastic to consistently get in the Champions League so I'm really excited to have another go at that and with the Premier League and FA Cup, we'll look to go as far as we can.

"For us as a club, it's just about keeping improving and we'll work hard to do that."

Kane first linked up with the Spurs youth setup in 2004 and has gone to make 213 senior appearances for the club.
