Ryan Mason: "We showed great character"

Ryan Mason praises Tottenham Hotspur for showing "great character" in the 2-1 victory over Queens Park Rangers.

Ryan Mason has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur showed a different side to their game by battling to a 2-1 victory over Queens Park Rangers on Saturday.

A brace from Harry Kane was enough to hand Spurs all three points at Loftus Road, and Mason believes that the performance against their London rivals is proof of the impressive character in the squad.

"It was a tough game," the midfielder told the club's website. "They made it difficult on a small, bobbly pitch. We showed great character at the end to see it out.

"It's important to earn the right to play and sometimes it's not going to be pretty. We had to battle and everyone put their foot in when they needed to. It's positive to see this young side do that.

"The squad has been fantastic, we've a really good group. Everyone wants to be out there playing as much as possible. The fact that we've bounced back with two wins after the cup final is positive and says a lot about our character."

Spurs are just three points behind fourth-placed Manchester United in the battle for Champions League football, and they take on Louis van Gaal's side in their next game on Sunday afternoon.
