Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino moves to clarify comments which suggested that he was considering leaving the London club.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has moved to clarify comments in which he appeared to suggest that he was considering leaving the London club at the end of the season.

The Argentine's words in the aftermath of last weekend's 2-1 defeat to Manchester United in the semi-finals of the FA Cup led to claims that he could walk away from Spurs this summer.

In-demand head coach Pochettino, however, has insisted that he is not considering an exit at the end of the 2017-18 campaign.

"The problem is the context of the question, for me I will say the same. Tottenham is doing a fantastic job developing an amazing project and I only wanted to tell you that this project is long-term - but it is not going to change with us or another coaching staff," Pochettino told reporters.

"It was not a message I was sending to someone. I was only explaining in the context of the question that the project is so strong, we believe in this project.

"I think the club needs to keep going, keep pushing in this direction, trying to achieve all the things that the club want. But it was not a message for someone. It was what I felt and I told you how I feel.

"I think it is an exciting project at Tottenham, different to other clubs, but I still have a three-year contract and then obviously there is a decision."

Tottenham will return to Premier League action at home to Watford on Monday night.
