Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly due to hold further talks with Louis van Gaal in January despite giving Tim Sherwood an 18-month contract at White Hart Lane last week.
The Dutch coach is due to lead his nation at next summer's World Cup in Brazil and therefore ruled himself out of contention to succeed Andre Villas-Boas when he was sacked earlier this month.
However, The Mirror reports that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy spent almost six hours in negotiations at the 62-year-old's penthouse apartment in Noordwijk and was impressed by the ideas outlined by the former Ajax, Barcelona and Bayern Munich coach.
Van Gaal took the Netherlands job last year and led them to nine wins and a draw in 10 World Cup qualifying games.
