Harry Kane, Aaron Lennon fire Tottenham Hotspur to victory

Tottenham Hotspur secure their second win of their pre-season tour of the US as they beat the Chicago Fire 2-0 thanks to strikes from Harry Kane and Aaron Lennon.

Goals from Harry Kane and Aaron Lennon have handed Tottenham Hotspur their second win of their pre-season tour of the US as they defeated the Chicago Fire 2-0.

Spurs took the lead in the fifth minute when Lewis Holtby robbed a defender in the final third of the pitch and slided a pass to Kane, who slotted the ball into the net with ease.

Chicago tried to find an equaliser and almost did through an ambitious effort from Mike Magee, as he attempted to lob Brad Friedel from distance, but his shot went just over the bar.

Erik Lamela nearly doubled his side's lead when he ran at the Fire defence and fired a powerful shot at goal which forced Sean Johnson into tipping the ball over.

After the break, Tottenham's new signing Ben Davies tried to register his first goal for the club as he raided to the edge of the area, but he put his left-footed shot wide of the target.

The Fire were presented with a great chance to get back in the game when Michael Dawson lost possession in his own half, but the defender managed to make amends as he blocked Matthew Fondy's goalbound shot.

Tottenham secured their win when Roberto Soldado lifted a ball over the top for Lennon to chase and the winger evaded the challenge of Jhon Kennedy Hurtado and rounded the keeper to place the ball into an empty net.

Christian Eriksen could have made it three late on, but Kyle Reynish managed to speed off his line and make a block with his feet to deny the forward.
