Leicester City held by Tottenham Hotspur at King Power stadium

Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur draw 1-1 at the King Power Stadium in the Premier League.

Riyad Mahrez has earned a point for Leicester City with a late equaliser against Tottenham Hotspur.

Spurs had the first shot of the day as Moussa Dembele unleashed an effort from long range, but it was straight at Leicester keeper Kasper Schmeichel.

Marc Albrighton went close to giving Leicester the lead minutes later, as he curled a shot marginally over the bar after cutting inside onto his right foot.

Eric Dier also went close for Spurs with a header, before Schemichel dived low to save another Dembele shot.

Spurs controlled possession for much of the half but Leicester remained defensively solid, with Robert Huth and Wes Morgan keeping Harry Kane quiet.

Nacer Chadli went close after the break as he surged through the Leicester defence and latched onto the end of a Kyle Walker pass, but his rising shot went over the bar.

Schmeichel then kept out Kane's first meaningful effort, as he turned inside a defender and forced the keeper into a low save from close range.

Mahrez, who has enjoyed a productive start to the season, went close for Leicester when hit the post from a narrow angle, after Spurs failed to deal with his mazy run.

However, Spurs broke the deadlock with 10 minutes to go when Dele Alli stooped low to head in at the far post from Chadli's cross.

Leicester hit back straight away though through Mahrez, who curled a fine effort into the far corner just seconds after Ali's strike.

The Foxes almost claimed the three points, but Hugo Lloris dived low to save Morgan's powerful header in the dying minutes.
