Tottenham Hotspur boss Andre Villas-Boas admits that the club cannot afford to sign Portuguese international Joao Moutinho.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has admitted that a deal to sign Joao Moutinho is out of the club's reach.

The Porto playmaker has a release clause of £31.7m, which if activated allows him to talk to any club about a move away from Portugal.

Villas-Boas says that the amount of money Porto want for the 25-year-old is simply out of reach for Spurs.

He said: "It's an impossible deal for the club, you have to bear in mind that this is a player with a £31.7m euro release clause.

"This volume of money is out of Tottenham's possibility."

Spurs are expected to be busy in the transfer market before Friday night's deadline, with names such as Willian and Loic Remy linked with a move to White Hart Lane.
