Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly giving consideration to a swap deal involving Arthur and Tanguy Ndombele.
While Spurs only signed Ndombele on a long-term contract last summer, the Frenchman has struggled to impress, leading to public criticism from manager Jose Mourinho.
Meanwhile, after the arrival of Frenkie de Jong last summer, Arthur is no longer regarded as a first-choice pick in Barcelona's midfield.
According to reports in Spain, this has resulted in both clubs contemplating whether it would make sense to complete a straight swap deal.
As a result of the coronavirus pandemic, it is claimed that the two European giants are assessing ways to save money.
Arthur has just over four years left on his deal at Camp Nou, while Ndombele has an extra 12 months on his terms with Spurs.
