Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic denies that he has been in contact with Harry Kane's representatives over a move to Allianz Arena.

Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has denied that he has been in contact with Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane's representatives over a possible move to Allianz Arena.

The Bundesliga champions decided against signing a direct replacement for Robert Lewandowski during the summer, but the club are believed to be keen to sign a new centre-forward next summer.

A recent report claimed that Bayern were hopeful that the England captain would not sign a new deal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with a view to moving for him next year.

There have also been suggestions that the German outfit have already been in touch with the 28-year-old's camp to discuss a possible deal.

However, Salihamidzic has insisted that he has not been in contact with Kane's agents to register an interest despite the recent speculation.

"I haven't spoken to anyone at Harry Kane's camp," Salihamidzic has told Sport1. "We have faith in our players. Serge [Gnabry], Sadio [Mane], [Eric Maxim] Choupu-Moting and also [Mathys] Tel.

"These are guys who should grow into it. We have eight players for four positions. In the end you have to see what the market has to offer and we didn't find anyone is better than what was already in our squad."

Over the summer, Bayern boss Julian Nagelsmann refused to rule out a move for Kane, claiming that the striker "could score a lot in the Bundesliga".

"He's very expensive that's the problem - but brilliant player, one of two or three who can play as a centre forward [as well as a] No 10, but he's very strong, brilliant with [his] head and both feet," Nagelsmann told reporters.

"He could score a lot in the Bundesliga, I don't know the price, but it's really tough for Bayern Munich. We'll see what happens in the future."

Meanwhile, back in July, Bayern CEO Oliver Kahn said that a move for Kane would be "a dream".

"He's under contract with Tottenham. Sure, an absolute top striker, but that's all a dream of the future," the former goalkeeper told Bild at the time.

Kane's current deal with Spurs is due to expire in June 2024, and his club are said to be keen to open talks over an extension as soon as possible, with the speculation surrounding his future again gathering pace.

The forward, was strongly linked with a move to Manchester City last summer, scored 27 goals and registered 10 assists in 50 appearances for Tottenham in all competitions last season.

Kane has again been in strong form for Antonio Conte's side at the start of this term, finding the back of the net on five occasions in seven appearances, with all five of his goals coming in the Premier League.
