The agent of Steaua Bucuresti defender Vlad Chiriches has claimed that his client will be unveiled as a Tottenham Hotspur player on Thursday.
An £8.5m deal has apparently been agreed between the two clubs, but Bucharest would not allow the 23-year-old to leave before the second leg of their Champions League playoff against Legia Warsaw.
As it transpired, Chiriches missed the match - which finished 2-2 as Bucharest qualified for the competition's group stages on away goals - with a minor injury and he will now finalise the details of his move to White Hart Lane over the next 48 hours.
Victor Becali has insisted that his client, a Romanian international centre-back that will act as a replacement for Steven Caulker, is relishing his switch to Spurs, which will be confirmed on Thursday.
Becali told Sport Total FM: "At this moment, Tottenham are a team that deserve to have such a player. The clubs have agreed on the fee, now he has to take his medical and sign the contract.
"He won't change his character [after a big move] like you see with other players. On Thursday he will be officially unveiled by Tottenham."
Chiriches has also been the subject of an offer from Russian club Dinamo Moscow, but a transfer to the Premier League is his preferred option.
