Son Heung-min 'offered pay parity with Tottenham Hotspur teammate Harry Kane'

Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy is allegedly prepared to hand Son Heung-min a contract which matches that of teammate Harry Kane.

Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy is allegedly open to handing Son Heung-min a contract which matches that of teammate Harry Kane.

While Kane reached the 200-goal mark for Spurs on Thursday night, Son has moved closer to the forward in terms of status in the starting lineup.

The South Korea international has already contributed eight goals and two assists in the Premier League this season.

According to journalist Ian McGarry, the attacker's latest efforts in the final third has convinced Levy to offer him a significant pay rise.

Speaking to the Transfer Window Podcast, McGarry said: "Daniel Levy met with Son's representatives from the CAA. The deal was discussed in general. The deal we are led to believe that is being offered to Son will be equal to Harry Kane's.

"He'll be earning around £200,000 per-week, if he agrees to it obviously. That's an awful lot of money for Tottenham Hotspur.

"They've traditionally had their wage structure, and there's a pyramid structure to that. Son earning the same as the captain would be quite a departure in terms of the way Spurs do their business."

Son still has just under two-and-a-half years remaining on his existing deal.
