Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly identified Marseille defender Hiroki Sakai as a potential summer signing.
Boss Mauricio Pochettino will strengthen his squad in the coming months after going through the last two transfer windows without making a first-team addition.
The Argentine is targeting a number of areas of the pitch, including the right side of the defence due to speculation regarding the future of Kieran Trippier.
Sky Sports News claims that Sakai is on the radar of the North London outfit, who still have Serge Aurier and Kyle Walker-Peters as options for that position.
The Japan international made 27 appearances in Ligue 1 during the most campaign, but Marseille are allegedly open to selling players this summer after failing to qualify for the Champions League.
However, the same report suggests that Spurs are in two minds about pursuing a deal due to Sakai having just turned 29 years of age.
