St Johnstone, Dundee play out draw in Scottish Premiership

St Johnstone and Dundee share the spoils at McDiarmid Park as they play out a 1-1 draw in their Scottish Premiership clash.

St Johnstone and Dundee played out a 1-1 draw in their Scottish Premiership match at McDiarmid Park this evening.

The visitors took the lead in the third minute when Kane Hemmings collected the ball on the edge of the box and was afforded time and space to find the bottom corner with a low drive.

Hemmings was allowed to raid forward again minutes later, but on this occasion his shot was not as accurate as he put his strike wide of the post.

St Johnstone levelled the match when Michael O'Halloran collected a through-ball down the right wing and sent a low ball across the face of goal for David Wotherspoon to hammer past Scott Bain.

Joe Shaughnessy lifted a cross into the box for the run of Murray Davidson, but he could only put his volleyed effort over the bar.

In the second half, Wotherspoon came close to a second goal to hand the home side the lead when he cut in from the left and curled his effort at goal, only to see his strike drift past the post.

Riccardo Calder unlocked the St Johnstone defence to send a low ball into the path of Greg Stewart in the box, but the forward's effort was tame and straight into the arms of Alan Mannus.

The home side pushed forward late in the game, but John Sutton sent his header from O'Halloran's cross from the right wide of the target as both teams settled for a point apiece.

The result leaves St Johnstone in fourth place in the table, while Dundee rise to sixth.
