Team News: Stoke City hand Peter Crouch third start of season

Peter Crouch starts for just the third time this season as Stoke City host Sheffield Wednesday in the League Cup quarter-final.

Peter Crouch has been included in the Stoke City lineup for only the third time this season as the Potters host Sheffield Wednesday in the League Cup quarter-finals.

Mark Hughes has made six changes to his side in total as they bid to reach the last four of the competition.

Marc Wilson has replaced club captain Ryan Shawcross, who is suspended after receiving a red card in Saturday's 2-0 defeat to Sunderland.

Further forward, Geoff Cameron, Marco van Ginkel, Ibrahim Affelay, Marko Arnautovic and Crouch all return to the side.

Sheffield Wednesday have gone one further, making seven alterations. Top goalscorer Lucas Joao returns after coming off the bench to net a late equaliser in the 2-2 draw with Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.

Young goalkeeper Joe Wildsmith earns a start, as do Jack Hunt, Rhoys Wiggins, Ross Wallace, Sam Hutchinson, Gary Hooper and Joao.
