Stoke City chief executive Tony Scholes has described Xherdan Shaqiri as a "fantastic" signing for the club.
The Swiss winger joined the Potters from Inter Milan on Tuesday for a record fee of £12m.
Scholes is confident that the 23-year-old will have a positive impact at the Britannia Stadium thanks to his experience in Europe with Bayern Munich and Inter.
"It's no secret that we have been pursuing Xherdan for some time now and we are delighted to have finally secured his signature," he told the club's official website.
"He's an exciting young player who is really looking forward to playing in the Premier League having played at the very highest level in Germany with Bayern Munich and in Italy with Inter. Xherdan will be a fantastic addition to our squad and adds to the attacking options at the manager's disposal."
Stoke City continue their Premier League campaign on Saturday with a trip to Tottenham Hotspur.
