Preview: Stoke City vs. West Bromwich Albion - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews the Championship clash between Stoke City and West Bromwich Albion, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Stoke City host the Championship league leaders off the back of a 2-0 defeat away at Millwall last time out - their second successive loss.

West Bromwich Albion, on the other hand, are on a four-match unbeaten run but have drawn their last two, and they were held to a 2-2 stalemate against Charlton Athletic last time out.

Stoke sit in the relegation zone with just two league wins all season, both of which came in October.

The Potters saw a brief upturn in form as they earned back-to-back victories but slumped back into their old ways with successive defeats in their last two games.

Stoke have the joint-third worst defensive record in the Championship behind Barnsley and Queens Park Rangers, having shipped 25 goals in just 14 games.

Their abysmal form has seen manager Nathan Jones lose his job, with a combination of Rory Delap, Kevin Russell and Andy Quy taking over in the meantime.

West Brom will be hoping to capitalise on Stoke's struggles as they look to maintain their place at the top of the league.

The Baggies are the division's second-highest scorers, having hit 26 Championship goals so far this season, and they will expect to add to that tally against a struggling Potters defence.

Slaven Bilic's side have lost just once this term and were unbeaten until October. Their form has slipped somewhat since that defeat, and the league leaders have drawn their last two games, a run they will be hoping to end against Stoke.

Team News

Stoke remain without captain Ryan Shawcross in the centre of defence after he fractured his foot in July, which is a significant blow.

The Potters have no other injury concerns heading into the game, however.

Baggies boss Bilic is without left-back Nathan Ferguson after the full-back's sending-off against Charlton.

In his place, Kieran Gibbs could return after suffering a broken toe, but the former Arsenal defender was not included in the last squad, casting doubts over his fitness.

Should Gibbs remain sidelined, Conor Townsend could deputise on the left of defence, despite making just three substitute appearances in the Championship so far this term.

Stoke City possible starting lineup:
Federici; Carter-Vickers, Batth, Lindsay, Martins Indi; Ince, Ndiaye, Allen, Clucas; Hogan, Gregory

West Bromwich Albion possible starting lineup:
Johnstone, Furlong, Ajayi, Bartley, Townsend; Sawyers, Livermore; Phillips, Pereira, Diangana; Austin

We say: Stoke City 0-3 West Bromwich Albion

League leaders West Brom possess a fearsome attack and could run riot against a Stoke City side struggling to keep the opposition out. This could be an excellent opportunity for the Baggies to get back to winning ways.
