Kenwyne Jones: 'No contract talks planned'

Stoke City striker Kenwyne Jones rubbishes reports that he has begun talks over extending his contract at the Britannia Stadium.

Stoke City striker Kenwyne Jones has revealed that the club are yet to make contact with his representatives over a new contract.

Jones is out of contract at the end of the season, despite being preferred to Peter Crouch in a lone front role by Potters boss Mark Hughes so far this season.

The Trinidad forward has moved to quieten speculation that he has entered talks over fresh terms with Stoke, but did declare that he would welcome the opportunity to discuss his future.

When asked about contract rumours, he told The Sentinel: "That's absolutely wrong.

"Talks are always welcome. Whether or not you have a resolution at the end of the talks we will see."

The 28-year-old has been ever-present for Stoke in the first five games of the campaign, which included his first hat-trick in a League Cup win against Walsall last month.
