Stoke City boss Tony Pulis has confirmed that the Potters have taken American international Brek Shea on a week-long trial.
The 22-year-old, who currently plays for FC Dallas, is regarded as one of the best talents in the United States, but has recently been out with a long-term foot injury.
"A year ago he was touted as the next great thing in America. I think he's fallen off the rails a little bit in some respect - I don't know why," Pulis told BBC Radio Stoke.
"I went to France last year to see him play for America. So we've got a chance to look at him - he's coming over and we'll see what we think."
Shea has made 15 appearances for his country.
