Jonathan Walters has slammed a recent story suggesting that the winger is frustrated with contract talks at Stoke City.
The 31-year-old, who joined the Potters from Ipswich Town in 2010, has one year remaining on his current terms.
According to the Stoke Sentinel, following the Republic of Ireland's 1-1 draw with Scotland on Saturday, Walters was quoted as saying: "Talks are on-going over a contract, but we are not where I want to be. I want to get this sorted.
"I am not the type who wants this sort of thing hanging over me. I have done well enough to earn that over the last few years. I have been good enough to be in the team, but I am not near the top earner."
In response to the story, Walters tweeted: "Poor journalism...Stringing together quotations and taking them out of context to fit a story good effort but well wide of the mark!"
Walters has scored 34 goals for Stoke in all competitions.
