Dick Advocaat pleased with Sunderland character

Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat admits that the attitude of his side has been unwavered despite their failure to win any of their five opening Premier League matches.

Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat has revealed that he is pleased with the character of his team ahead of their clash against Bournemouth.

The Black Cats have taken just two points from their opening five fixtures in the top flight after losing their last match 1-0 to Tottenham Hotspur at the Stadium of Light.

However, Advocaat has admitted that the attitude of his team has not wavered despite their difficult start to the season.

"I have no problem with the attitude of this team, they work hard and you could see that last week," Advocaat told the club's official website.

"As long as we give 100% tomorrow then I cannot say 'you didn't do what you had to do', and then at the end may the best team win.

"I have a good feeling about the squad we have now. Everybody knows what they have to do and not everyone will play every week so there is competition, but that's a positive."

The Black Cats face Bournemouth at Dean Court later today.
