Martin O'Neill is pleased with his side's comeback against Wigan Athletic.

Sunderland manager Martin O'Neill has revealed his delight at his side's response after they went behind and fought back to beat Wigan Athletic 3-2.

He also insisted that the call to give his side a penalty, from which Craig Gardner levelled, was fair.

"We had to respond because we were behind within a couple of minutes and from our point of view it was a sloppy goal," BBC Sport quotes O'Neill as saying.

"We had to fight back and we got the penalty kick - it was a clear penalty. There can be no complaints there. Our play after that was fantastic."

The win moved Sunderland up to 11th in the Premier League.
