Dick Advocaat refuses to confirm if he will stay at Sunderland

Dick Advocaat refuses to confirm if he plans to stay at Sunderland amid reports that he will quit if his team lose to West Ham United this weekend.

Sunderland head coach Dick Advocaat has refused to confirm if he has a long-term future at the North-East club.

Reports emerged on Friday claiming that the Dutchman will walk away from his job should they suffer defeat at the hands of West Ham United on Saturday.

The club are currently at the bottom of the Premier League table having recorded two draws and five defeats.

Today, Advocaat denied the newspaper reports, but did not commit himself to Sunderland long term.

"I always think in facts and the fact is it is now Friday and I am the manager of Sunderland, and I am the manager of Sunderland tomorrow as well," Advocaat told reporters in a press conference.

"What will happen on Sunday or a week on Sunday or nine months after Sunday, then I will tell you real story, but now I'm still here and nothing has changed."

Advocaat signed a permanent contract at Sunderland in the summer after making a u-turn on his decision to retire.
