Sunderland manager Martin O'Neill is reportedly aiming to sign a trio of attacking talent as he looks to add to his squad before the transfer window closes.
O'Neill wants to wrap up a deal for unsettled Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Steven Fletcher this week before moving on to bids for Jermain Defoe and Aiden McGeady, according to the Daily Mail.
Defoe is desperate to play first-team football this season after being a frustrated substitute for long spells last year at Tottenham Hotspur. The England international will only be allowed to leave Spurs this summer if Andre Villas-Boas can sign two new strikers before the transfer deadline.
Spartak Moscow winger McGeady is also a target, with the Republic of Ireland international understood to be keen on a move to the Premier League.
O'Neill faces a race against to time to bolster his squad for their Premier League campaign, which begins against Arsenal on Saturday, August 18.
