Report: Sheffield Wednesday planning bid for Connor Wickham

Sheffield Wednesday will make a new loan bid for Sunderland's Connor Wickham, according to a report.

Sheffield Wednesday are ready to make a new loan bid for Sunderland's Connor Wickham, according to a report.

The striker grabbed eight goals in 11 appearances during an earlier loan spell at the club, but was recalled by the Black Cats, with boss Gus Poyet saying that he needs him at the Stadium of Light.

However, Wednesday manager Stuart Gray has said that the club "desperately want to bring him back", and The Mirror claims that the Owls will ask about his availability.

Wickham also had a short loan spell at Hillsborough last season.
